A ventilation unit from Nilan can last for many years if properly maintained. Ventilation units are often hidden away and therefore rarely get attention in everyday life. But just like you maintain your car, your ventilation unit also needs regular maintenance to keep it functioning properly.<\/p>

Failure to perform proper service and maintenance may damage the ventilation unit. It can also lead to higher energy consumption and a worse indoor climate. Less air will flow through the unit, even if the fans run faster. But the ventilation unit will not work properly with dirty filters, a clogged heat exchanger and dusty fans.<\/p>

You can set an alarm in your calendar on your phone that notifies you when your ventilation unit is due for service. You can also make a service appointment with your local Nilan dealer or an authorised service company.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The ventilation unit<\/strong><\/p>

The exterior of the appliance can be cleaned with a mild soap solution.<\/p>

The ceiling flaps<\/strong><\/p>

Over time, a ring may form around the inlet valves. This is a natural process and is caused by dust in the room air, not by faulty filters or failure to change filters.
Since very few painted ceilings are washable, we recommend vacuuming around the flap and then wiping the area with a damp cloth. It is a good idea to disassemble and clean the dampers as needed. The dampers are set by the installer for a specific airflow, so it is important not to turn them, as this will change the setting and unbalance the ventilation system.<\/p>

Water lock<\/strong><\/p>

The water trap may dry out and prevent water from draining from the condensate tray, as air will be blown into the unit. Condensation water will accumulate in the condensate tray. This will eventually overflow and possibly cause water damage to the surface supporting the unit.
The water seal should therefore be checked and filled with water regularly, especially in summer when the risk of the water seal drying out is highest.<\/p>

Change filter<\/strong><\/p>

The purpose of the filters is to protect the fans and heat exchanger from dust and dirt, which can cause damage.
For smooth operation, it is important to change filters as required. By default, the filter timer in Nilan's control system is set to indicate that filters should be changed after 90 days, but this can be changed to 180 or 360 days as required.
If the filters are not replaced, ventilation will decrease. This may worsen the indoor climate and affect the unit's automatic humidity control system.<\/p>

The heat exchanger<\/strong><\/p>

The heat exchanger should be checked for dust and dirt every two years to ensure that air can pass unhindered. A clogged heat exchanger increases power consumption.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

  • Loosen the thumbscrews (1) in the upper front door and lift the door out.<\/li>
  • Loosen the 2 screws in the lower front cover (2) with a screwdriver and lift the cover out.<\/li><\/ul>

    • Loosen the 13 screws in the cover plate (3) with a screwdriver and lift the door out.<\/li><\/ul>

      \u00a0<\/p>

      • Pull the sensor (4) out of the heat exchanger.<\/li>
      • Carefully pull the heat exchanger (5) out of the unit.<\/li>
      • Place the heat exchanger in a shower room and spray it with hot water.<\/li>
      • If necessary, wipe the inside of the appliance with a damp cloth.<\/li>
      • Drain the heat exchanger thoroughly before replacing it in the unit.<\/li>
      • The unit should then run at the highest fan speed for about 15 minutes.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

        Filters<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

        The main purpose of the filters is to protect the ventilation unit and, in particular, the heat exchanger and fans that could otherwise be damaged by dust and dirt.<\/p>

        Dirty filters lead to worse indoor climate and higher energy consumption. Dirty filters should therefore be replaced. Dirty filters can also affect the humidity control in the ventilation unit, so that it no longer works as intended.<\/p>

        The factory setting of the control system is set to 90 days, which is suitable for most installations. However, if you live in a city near a busy road, you may need to change the filters more often. On the other hand, if you live in a rural area, you may not need to change the filters as often.<\/p>

        The standard filters in the ventilation unit are ISO Coarse > 65% (G4). If you install a pollen filter ISO ePM1 50-65% (F7), you do not need to change the pollen filter as often, as its filter area is larger. It may then be necessary to change the pollen filter only every second or third time, depending on its condition.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

        Press the filter blade firmly into place in the filter frame and gently push it to the sides of the frame.
